Q. How much does it cost to play?
A. It costs $10 per person for 1.5 hours of play for groups of 11 or less. Contracted Events of groups 12 or more are priced based on multiple factors. Please see our Events page for more information.
Q. Do I need to bring my own balls and equipment?
A: Campo di Bocce provides balls, a pallino and court instruction included with the cost of court time. You can bring in your own balls and pallino. We do not allow brass or wooden balls on our courts. If you have a question about your balls suitability please do not hesitate to contact us. We do ask that all Punto, Raffa, Volo players use steel pallinos during practice to avoid injuring other guests.
Q: I don’t know how to play. Will someone be able to help me?
A: Not only do we have trained bocce instructors on staff to give you lessons and answer questions, our staff is trained to answer you bocce related questions as well. Fear not, bocce is easy!
Q: What are the rules of play?
A: As an affiliated USBF club, we abide by the Rules adopted by the Federation for OPEN play. For RAFFA play we are guided by the International Rules as set forth by the Confederazione Boccistica Internazionale (CBI). Copies of these can be found on the Bocce section of this website.
Q: What is the proper bocce attire?
A: We have a few dress requirements. No high-heels on the courts and we do not allow tank tops or sleeveless shirts for men. Bocce is best played in comfortable, casual attire with flat soled shoes.
Q: How many people can play on one court at a time?
A: Bocce can be played with 2 to 12 players. We suggest no more then 12 players on one court to allow everyone enough playing time. Our recommendation is 8 players per court with 4 players per team. You do not need an even number of players. The game can be adjusted for any group size.
Q: Can I join a bocce league?
A: Certainly. You need a minimum of four players each game and can have up to 6 roster players. Leagues are fun and competitive. To join a league, please contact Cassie LeBaron at accounting-lg@campodibocce.com.
Q: Do I need to be a member to play in the leagues?
A: While one league night is included in your membership, we do allow non-members to play at the rate of $15 per week. Fee is dependent on number weeks the league runs.
Q: How good are the players? Will I feel like an idiot if I join a league and I suck?
A: All three nights have excellent players. However, we have people that are beginning players as well. It is strongly recommended that beginners start on Monday nights to get a feel for the leagues and then progress onto the Intermediate and Advanced nights. Most players find that it is very easy to improve with just a little practice.
Q: When are the games?
A: We currently have three league nights. Monday is for beginning bocce players, Tuesday is for intermediate and Wednesday is for advanced players. All league play is governed by OPEN rules.
Q: What time do the games start?
A: Game time is either 6:30 or 8:30 and it is a randomly assigned time each week.
Q: When do the leagues happen?
A: We have two league seasons a year Fall and Spring. Fall usually starts the first or second week in August and Spring usually starts the first or second week in February. Each league lasts an average of 15 weeks depending on the number of teams that sign up.
Q: Are there prizes?
A: Yes. The winner of each league gets their team name and individual names on the perpetual plaque that hangs on the wall by our bulletin board. The players on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place team receive our Campo di Bocce designed lapel pin. We also host a season ending tournament for qualifying teams and invite all players and alternates.
Q: Do you host tournaments for company parties?
A: We are always happy to assist you in setting up a tournament for your group. Please contact Joe Morelli at 408.395.7650 for questions regarding tournament play at Campo di Bocce of Los Gatos.
Q: Who can I contact about bocce play at Campo di Bocce?
A: If you've still got a question that hasn't been answered, you can send an email to Cassie LeBaron at accounting-lg@campodibocce.com and she will get back you as soon as possible.
